If you have eyes or ears in America, you know it’s no secret that obesity is a bigger problem today than it ever has been before. I visit schools here in California and around the Country teaching children about fitness and healthy eating. Our goal with visiting these schools is to introduce today's youth to healthy activities and a positive mindset.
In the White House our First Lady Michelle Obama is taking action to combat childhood obesity with her Let's Move program, because it’s become such an issue!
In a book I wrote a few years back called, "Get Strong: Body By Jake's Guide to Building Confidence, Muscles, and a Great Future for Teenage Guys", I described my experience growing up, and I'd like to share it with you below:
Before I ever received the set of keys to my first car - and before I had any clue that I had an engine of my own to reckon with - my father gave me a different kind of set... of weights! This bare bones weight set gave me more freedom and power than any souped up Trans Am. They allowed me to find my own internal engine - and my own way.
We need more role models to inspire a healthier America for tomorrow. Now, how are you supposed to be a fitness role model? I'm not going to tell you it's easy to get in shape and stay consistent with your training and diet. But I'm not going to tell you it has to be complex, or out of your reach right now.
My advice is to just start with you! You have to lead by example. If you start leading a healthier life, your friends and family will eventually follow.
As the pioneer of personal training, I can tell you that it takes a good role model to be one.
FitOrbit offers you a real fitness role model who's on your side. Your FitOrbit online personal trainer will help you learn the workouts and give you guidance on the best meals to prepare. With this knowledge, you'll be able to teach your family how to be healthier. Let's all take a personal initiative to lead by example! Don't Quit! America’s future health starts with your own.
